Vatican signs agreement with Andorra.
I think it is pretty safe to say that anyone who ever played Risk as a child well knows that he who has Andorra on his side is utterly unstoppable.

Whatever you do, do not try and make Asia your first continent! You cannot hold it and you will squander your forces fighting a dozen petty frontier wars. Do what my annoying, second-eldest brother always did: take Australia first and dig in like a badger! While your enemies tear each other apart, you survive and then lash out when they are weakened.
Amen on Asia and Australia. Asia is for suckers. The Sicilian from The Princess Bride was right: “Never get involved in a land war is Asia!”
Take Australia and fortify the crap out of Siam.
Take South America and use this as a base of operation move up into North America and east into Africa. If you can seal off North and South America and heavily fortify Iceland, North Africa and Kamchatka, you will be unstoppable. The rest of the game is just you pwnin’ the planet in rolling pinscher movement of creeping doom.
I couldn’t agree more to the strategies offered. Though sometimes you have two people vying for Australia and that pretty much saps the strength from whomever comes out on top of that debacle for someone to march into Siam and wipe the victor away.
The last time I played Risk, my brother and I ended up in a ball throwing punches and obscenties in the corner. It took quite a bit to separate us.
One of my favorite Seinfeld scenes is when Kramer and Newman are playing Risk and have to go on the Subway. Kramer tells Newman that “Ukraine is weak.” Then a Ukrainian man gets furious and destroys the board.
I was never a big Seinfeld fan (always seemed to work or have class on Thursdays…) so I never caught most of them the first time around. I just the other day saw the Risk episode when my roomie was watching it on DVD. It jogged my memory of youthful world conquests… They never came to blows, though I am sure we always all cheated.
I usually went for Africa and let the others fight over Austrailia…
But once I had Andorra, GAME OVER!
